HOLLYWOOD—The 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award nominees were announced on Wednesday, December 11, and leading the pack of all nominees was the film “12 Years a Slave” with four nominations including Cast in a Motion Picture. Followed closely behind with three nominations a piece were the films “Dallas Buyers Club,” “August: Osage County” and “Lee Daniel’s The Butler.”  On the television side of things, “Breaking Bad” and “30 Rock” top the list for nominations in the drama and comedy arenas.

There were quite a few surprises with the nominations. No love for Martin Scorsese and his “The Wolf of Wall Street,” where are the nominations for “Fruitvale Station” which was a Sundance favorite earlier this year.  Amy Adams and Christian Bale overlooked for their work as Lead Actress and Lead Actor for “American Hustle.” Also missing from this year’s nominees is Robert Redford who is earning rave reviews for his performance in “All is Lost.” Definitely happy to see Kerry Washington earn a nod for her sensational work on “Scandal,” but why not a nomination for “ Nashville” star Connie Britton or Vera Farmiga “Bates Motel.”

The SAG nominations have definitely set the bar in what is sure to be a unexpected awards race, which is a treat in my opinion. Just looking at the nominees for Lead Actress and Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture will be a tough one to predict. A full list of nominees are listed below:
