MALIBU—The Los Angeles Sheriff Department made a total of 23 arrests on July 11 during a DUI and license checkpoint.

 

The Malibu Lost Hills station conducted a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint along the Pacific Coast Highway near Webb Way from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

 

A representative of from the Malibu Lost Hills station told Canyon News that the checkpoint resulted in one arrest for DUI, 13 unlicensed drivers who were arrested and sent to court, six suspended drivers, and one motorist arrested for possession of a concealed deadly weapon.

A total of 1,758 vehicles went through the check point and 1,709 were checked during that time.  Driving without license or a suspended license carried the highest rating, while driving under the influence was the least. Other findings included:

-6 vehicles being stored for a day

-8 vehicles impounded for 30 days

-4 motorists cited for drinking from open containers.

-10 vehicles released per checkpoint release procedures

 

Two people who had outstanding warrants were arrested during the checkpoint. The LASD urges motorists to be responsible and drive carefully.
