HOLLYWOOD—Well if the animated film “ Rio 2” isn’t your cup of tea this weekend at the multiplex, there are other offerings available to please all.  For those sports fans out there, “Draft Day” provides an inside look at the ins and outs of what takes place leading up to the biggest day in the NFL. The picture stars Kevin Costner as Sonny Weaver Jr., the general manager of the Cleveland Browns who aims to do all that is possible to land the #1 draft after a never ending losing streak.

Other stars in the picture include Jennifer Garner, Frank Langella and Ellen Burstyn. While the picture might be PG-13, I couldn’t help but think how much more interesting it may have been if it was rated R. Why? Well the envelope can be pushed a bit more and let’s face it, the antics that occur during draft day in many people’s eyes would not be deemed PG-13 behavior.

If horror is what you’re looking for, than perhaps “Oculus” could be your treat. This psychological thriller revolves around Kaylie (Karen Gillian) who suspects an antique mirror could be responsible for a string of bad events in her family. If the picture appears somewhat familiar, it might raise eyebrows to viewers of the 2008 film “Mirrors” starring Kiefer Sutherland. Let’s just say that movie was quite disastrous, so here’s hoping “Oculus” sets the bar a bit higher in terms of thrills and narrative.

April could be deemed a slow month at the multiplex, the real action begins in May with block bluster releases “The Amazing Spiderman 2,” “Godzilla” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
