HOLLYWOOD—For the first time in over a month, a movie has maintained its claim at the box-office. The series reboot for the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” won over audiences for a second consecutive weekend bringing in just over $28 million. After about 2 weeks, the family-friendly flick has earned over $117 million at the domestic box-office.

Landing in the number two spot is the surprise hit of the summer “Guardians of the Galaxy” which earned another $24 million to its tally. In just under three weeks in theaters, the comic book extravaganza has earned over $220 million at the box-office.

Grabbing the #3 spot was the buddy comedy “Lets Be Cops” starring Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. The raunchy comedy was a surprise at theaters earning over $17 million during the three-day weekend. Since the film’s release on Wednesday, the movie has nabbed over $26 million at the box-office.

In a disappointing debut was the film “The Expendables 3” with $16 million. The sequel underperformed compared to the last two installments that exceeded expectations. What is even more disappointing was that “The Expendables” and “The Expendables 2” were both rated-R. This installment was rated-PG-13.

Rounding out the top five was “The Giver” with just under $13 million.  Next week wraps the summer box-office with the debut of the highly anticipated “ Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” starring Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Eva Green.
