HOLLYWOOD—A homeless man pleaded no contest to charges of voluntary manslaughter after fatally stabbing another homeless man in Hollywood last year.

On June 12, 2017, at around 8 a.m., Alex Conn Vasquez, 24, got into an altercation with Jimmy Bradford, 47, near the 101 Freeway and Hollywood Boulevard. According to a press release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, a fight resulted in Vasquez stabbing Bradford twice in the back and killing him.

On June 13, 2017, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were able to locate and arrest Vasquez with the help of several witnesses. Vasquez confessed to authorities of using a deadly and dangerous weapon to commit the crime and having prior convictions as part of the plea arrangement.

Vasquez is due back in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on September 5, 2018 for final sentencing and is expected to be sentenced to 28 years in state prison. The Los Angeles Police Department, West Bureau Homicide investigated the case.
