HOLLYWOOD—Well it was definitely a big battle at the box-office this weekend. With three new releases all vying for that top spot to dethrone two-week champion “Captain America: Civil War,” it was anyone’s game. Well it’s the birds who came out on top. “The Angry Birds” movie rose to the top spot taking in $39 million to dethrone Steve Rogers and the rest of his comrades.

While “Civil War” was knocked down, the superhero flick still managed to draw in big numbers during its third weekend in theaters adding another $33.1 million to its tally to nab second place. The domestic gross is just mere millions from hitting $350 million, which is likely to occur by Monday.

The sequel “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” underperformed bringing in only $21.79 million to land in third place. That is a far cry from the nearly $50 million debut from its predecessor in 2014. If the flick earns $75 million at the domestic box-office I will be stunned. The action-comedy “The Nice Guys” starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling nabbed fourth place with a solid $11.27 million.

Rounding out the top five was “The Jungle Book” adding another $11 million to its tally. Other news worth noting is the massive debut of “X-Men: Apocalypse” with $103 million. That’s impressive people especially considering that the movie doesn’t open in America until the Memorial Day weekend. Hmm, is #1 in its future? Without a doubt, how big of a debut is the big question.
