MALIBU—Contractors for the city of Malibu have commenced work on the Annual Street Maintenance Project to repair and resurface City-owned streets. The City’s Street Maintenance Project is part of Malibu’s approved five-year Pavement Management Plan (PMP).The PMP provides a systematic and consistent method for assessing street maintenance and rehabilitation needs, providing optimal time for maintenance and rehabilitation of every City-owned street.

Project work includes rubberized asphalt overlay, slurry seal, pavement repair, cold milling, demolition, traffic control, utility work, signage, traffic striping, and appurtenant work. The Project is intended to improve and maintain the quality of the roadway, and ensure that the City’s local road network continues to meet the current and future needs of the community.

Work schedules are posted at www.MalibuCity.org/streets. Work in the coming weeks is expected to be finished prior to the first day of school on August 22, with the exception of some striping work, which should not impact access to local schools.
