Canyon News Meets Malibu Marathon
Posted by Leigh McCreary on Jul 23, 2004 - 11:51:00 PM

Canyon News is pleased to partner with Malibu Marathon in support of their first annual marathon.

While the marathon is scheduled for December 5, 2004, weekend activities begin December 3rd with a Sports and Fitness Expo beginning on Friday and continuing on Saturday with an energizing two-hour hike.  To end the fun-filled weekend are an array of marathons, perfect for every type of person:  the marathon, half marathon, bike tour and inline skating marathon beginning early Sunday morning.

Beginning at 7 a.m., the full marathon is a scenic 26.2 miles along Cross-Creek Road, PCH, Leo Carillo, eventually ending at Zuma Beach for the exciting post-race awards ceremony.  If you’re unsure of lasting a full 26.2 miles, the half marathon is ideal with a 13.1 mile course starting at 7:30 a.m.  This marathon follows a similar course as the full marathon, running along Cross-Creek Road and the PCH.

Inline skaters make an early start at 6:45 a.m., commencing their route at City Hall down to the PCH, also ending at Zuma Beach.  The biking event is different from the other three; it is a tour rather than a marathon, and there is no competition or prizes for participants.

No matter what your preference might be, the Malibu Marathon is an excellent opportunity to bask in the sun while enjoying yourself with your family and friends.
