The Art of a Deal!
Posted by Rose Quintiliano on Jan 2, 2005 - 2:22:00 PM

The beginning of each New Year brings with it a renewed hope for the future, and a new slate of New Year’s resolutions to inspire us throughout the coming months. The making of New Year’s resolutions dates back to the ancient Babylonians about 4000 years ago. In our society today some of the most common resolutions are losing weight, exercising more, eating healthy, getting organized, stopping smoking, finding a better job, becoming a better person, or spending more time with your children.

Anyway, I should be writing about the red carpet that may turn into a battleground at the Golden Globes as Star Jones Reynolds takes on the mother-daughter team of Joan and Melissa Rivers. Star Reynolds will be hosting E!’s two hour “Live from the Red Carpet: The 2005 Golden Globe Awards” on January 16, probably a few feet away from the Rivers' team, who are now working  for TV Guide Channel. It will be interesting to see the dishers of celeb fashion head-to head.

We all heard about Lisa Marie Presley merging with SFX Entertainment founder Robert F.X. Sillerman. Media mogul Sillerman has been a prominent figure in both the radio and concert business for many years. His Sillerman Broadcasting owned radio stations from 1992-1998 until being sold to Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, and his SFX Entertainment promoted numerous concerts from 1997-2000 before being sold and rolled into Clear Channel Entertainment. Lisa Marie, the sole heir to Elvis Presley, has sold his estate, including his name and likeness in a deal close to 100 million dollars. "For the past few years, I’ve been looking for someone to join forces with to expand the many facets of (Elvis Presley Enterprises), to take it to new levels internationally and to make it an even greater force in the entertainment industry,” said Lisa Marie in a statement.

The deal includes the King’s image and name while Lisa Marie keeps Graceland and many of Elvis’s personal effects. The new company even has plans to include a reality show called “Elvis Idol” and Presley theme parks in Germany and casinos. Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie’s mother and Presley’s former wife, will remain executive consultant to the business.  Lisa Marie, who is currently working on her sophomore CD, is another celebrity that has posted on her website a personal note regarding the recent business announcement. You can read the entirety of her post on her website at www.lisamariepresley.com.

Let’s cut to the chase and let me tell you that the last time I saw Sharon Stone was on October 27, at Cipriani’s. She looked radiant and elegant. Her natural beauty shined from inside out. I’m sure it’s not from any plastic assistance that has been swirling around making headlines. Miss Stone’s inner peace is probably attributed to her new job as an ordained minister. Miss Stone, who was ordained by mail order, recently performed the wedding ceremony for two close friends.

Rose’s Scoop:  It’s Official: Jay-Z will reportedly earn between 8 to 10 mil on a three-year deal as president of Def Jam Recordings. J.K. Rowling has finished her sixth Potter novel, Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, in stores July 16, 2005. Susan Lucci, star of AMC will be performing on January 21, at Pala Casino, in Pala, Ca . She will also be honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January. Finally, 11-year-old Tiffany Giardina is a rising star whose angelic voice is as emotional and powerful as her debut hit “Sure Don’t Feel Like Christmas”.
