"I feel that I'm starting life for a second time and this time I know how to do it much better," professes 47-year-old Adrianna Sachs of Beverly Hills. Recently named one of the ten finalists in More Magazine and Wilhemina Modeling Agency's 6th annual 40+ Model Search, Sachs is a single mom who only toyed with the idea of going back to work.
"I wanted to go back to work because my daughter doesn't need mommy as much as she used to," said Sachs, who added that it was actually a friend who entered her in the modeling contest.
Having decided to stay home and be a full-time mom, Sachs had always put her daughter, Mikaela, first. "I'm a career person and on some levels, it was a sacrifice for me, but it was a decision I made for my child and I'm very happy. Once you have a child, it's so amazing--people tell you, but you don't know until you've actually experienced it."
A nationwide contest that received over 17,000 entries, the More/Wilhelmina 40+ Model Search relies on a panel of judges spanning the fashion and modeling industry to select two top prize winners and one grand prize winner as recipients of Wilhelmina modeling contracts as well as various prizes.
Sachs, along with the other finalists, was flown to New York City and presented at a fashion show featuring designs by Alberta Ferretti. Although Sachs did was not one of the three top prize winners, she will be featured in the November issue of More Magazine.
"Beauty is not an age it's an attitude," said Peggy Northrop, Editor-in-Chief of More Magazine, the only lifestyle magazine specifically aimed at women in their 40's and 50's.
Sachs has a similar philosophy about aging, "The wonderful thing is the person you become within--you just want the face and the body to go with it! You have to continue accepting and liking who you are, because when you look in the mirror, you're looking at the person inside."
