Celebrities and Rumors Buzzing!
Posted by Rose Quintiliano on Apr 9, 2006 - 11:24:00 AM

It all began with the film "The Graduate", starring the late Oscar-winner Anne Bancroft and then-young Dustin Hoffman. Then the film “Prime" which starred Uma Thurman the older woman/younger man combination. You've seen it in the movies, so it shouldn't surprise you if in real life Hollywood celebrities also find love, despite the age difference. Of course, the most famous is (otherwise known as the queen of the cougars) Demi Moore and Ashton, Cameron and Justin, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. The funny thing is it's just not only happening in Hollywood, the trend is catching on everywhere. When you think of a cougar, you imagine a large, tawny cat of the wild. True! However, if you look up the word in an urban dictionary the term "Cougar", is defined as an older woman who dates younger men, nothing wrong with that. A website  www.urbancougar.com dedicated to older beautiful women was even launched two years ago in San Francisco. There is also a best-seller book titled " Cougar: A Guide for Older Women Dating Younger Men", written by Valerie Gibson, "that enlightens you on this latest trendy craze". So without further adieu, my fellow cougars, joining the latest "Cougardom" is "Desperate Housewives "star Teri Hatcher and "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest. The two were recently seen smooching in Malibu, according to a photo obtained by Us Weekly.  So how does Ryan Seacrest find time to date?  Ryan, like many celebrities multitasks. He hosts "American Idol", anchors E! News, has a radio show named "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" on KIIS-FM in L.A., and took over Casey Kasem's weekly American Top 40 countdown, owns his own clothing line, and on occasion subs for Larry King. Mr. I've -Got-a-Star-on-the-Hollywood-Walk-of-Fame also became executive producer and co-host of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, and perhaps will become Dick Clark's successor .

Things will really start getting interesting on "American Idol", the contestants that are left have all shown tremendous talent and have strong fan bases, along with strong judges’ support. Internet rumors are swirling that contestant Ace Young and UPN's sitcom "Half & Half co-star Essence Atkins are somewhere along the lines of friends and possible dating.

If you're a tween between the ages of 8 and 14 you've heard of Zac Efron. Zac has been catching a lot of buzz lately as the "next big star" on the Hollywood scene. Zac,18, who hails from San Luis Obispo, California, is best known for his portrayal of (Cameron Bale) on the WB canceled series Summerland, and if you're a fan you've watched him on the Disney Channel original movie, "High School Musical", that premiered on January, 20, and has been shown over ten times due to popular demand. The musical comedy centers on Troy (Zac Efron), the captain of his basketball team, and a brainiac new student Vanessa Anne Hudgens (Gabriella) who share a love for singing. Sparks fly for them, when they audition for the school musical. The movie is a huge hit for the tweens, teens, and family-oriented adults. The movie is phenomenal and is making Zac Efron a super-star. The movie's soundtrack even hit No. 1 a few weeks ago. According to published reports, the movie will be going global, airing in 23 countries in June. "High School Musical" fans will be happy to know that as I'm writing this plans are on the way for a sequel slated for 2007, including most of the original cast. Along with cell phone ringtones, a novel, and a merchandise line that will include apparel, it seems that Disney execs have hit gold with this one. But don't worry, if you missed this incredible, family-oriented movie which has taken the country by storm, the DVD will be released on May 23. I'll say it again, the demographics that carry some serious pocket money are the tweens and teens--those weekly allowances carry heavy weight. Trust me, I know , I have a 13-year-old daughter that dragged me to the mall to buy the "High School Musical" soundtrack.

Speaking of movies, by now, everyone in the world knows that Sharon Stone's latest film is "Basic Instinct 2", and will again bare all for the sake of art. Miss Stone has been traveling the globe promoting her new flick, however it seems that everyone is noticing the changes in her hair styles in every tour stop. So Sharon, what is going on with your stylist?  The style that looks absolutely fabulous on you, is the one that you're gracing on page 80 in the April 10, issue of "Star Magazine." The glamorous, 48-year-old actress will also be appearing in "Alpha Dog", which features Justin Timberlake movie debut, due in May, and the third film, "Bobby", about the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, is scheduled for August.

Is there anything left for Brad Pitt and George Clooney to steal?  Variety is reporting that "Ocean's Thirteen" is a definite go. The return of the sequel, will cast the entire team of thieves- Matt Damon, Bernie Mac, Carl Reiner, Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, and Elliot Gould, as will Andy Garcia as the casino owner. Julia Roberts will not repeat her role in the "Ocean's" sequel. Julia Roberts is currently on Broadway  making her debut in "Three Days of Rain"

at the Jacobs Theatre.

In music news, on April 11, "Capitol Albums Volume 2" will feature the Beatles first four U.S. releases. The boxed set includes 82 versions previously unreleased on CD.

As Sienna Miller once wrote, the perils of the Internet have a really detrimental effect on celebrities. One bored person can sit there and make up something, put it on the Internet-and two minutes later it's everywhere. It's scary. Sorry Sienna, welcome to the world of blogging!

Rose's Scoop: CNN's Anderson Cooper is John Dee's cousin. John Dee, 38, is the man in the middle of the love triangle between Johnson & Johnson heiresses Casey Johnson,26, and her aunt Libet Johnson, 55, Page Six reports. Talk about a cougar of a movie!
