The ongoing rap war between the West coast- East coast has claimed the lives of hip-hop greats such as the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shukar. As of press time, it was not immediately known if this was related or what the argument was about.
In the early morning of April 11, Proof, 32, a member of the group D12, was executed in a Detroit nightclub. Proof, whose real name was DeShaun Holton, was killed when a gunman blew his brains out during a heated argument. Proof was best friends with Eminem.
Police said bullets flew around 4:45 a.m. during a very loud squabble between two parties. The gunshots were fired at the popular C.C.C club that sits along the city's Eight Mile Road, the street made famous by Eminem's 2002 movie based on the same name. Another man, an unidentified 35-year-old victim, was also shot in the head and left clinging to life. A message on D12's website, says, "Proof's family and friends would appreciate privacy during this difficult time, and arrangements for fan remembrances are being planned, the details will be posted on Proof's official site, www.IronFistRecords.com ."
Contrary to earlier rumors and reports, D-12 member Bizarre was not involved in the unfortunate incident in Detroit, he was at home in Atlanta, Georgia. The shooting marks the second time to involve Eminem's entourage in three months, following the wounding of Obie Trice on New Year's Eve. Eminem is currently producing tracks for Obie Trice's new CD, "Second Round's on Me."

It's really hard these days being a celebrity gossip columnist. Unless you have just returned from a six-month vacation from Mars, you've heard about the investigation of the "Page Six" New York Post freelance writer Jared Paul Stern who has been suspended pending the outcome of a federal investigation into whether he allegedly tried to extort money from billionaire financier/possible newspaper investor Ron Burkle. But wait, it gets better: Ron Burkle (who is very handsome,by the way) besides writing a piece a few weeks ago in the Wall Street Journal, saying, "Newspapers that continue to go down the road of tabloidism, that adopt the shoddy standards of gossip reporting, and that arrogantly resist correcting their mistakes, risk losing their special role in our democracy", has recently joined forces with the Newspaper Guild in an effort to purchase some or all of the 12 Knight Ridder Inc. newspapers now on sale. Billionaire Ron Burkle whose Yucaipa company is based in Los Angeles, also has investments in supermarkets, such as Food4Less, Smith's Food & Drug Stores and Fred Meyer. Former President Clinton is a senior advisor to his Yucaipa company.
