Being a celebrity entertainer sure is a lot of fun. You party with the crème de la crème Hollywood's A-list, you get first crack at the pre-screenings, movie premieres, book signings, birthday party extravaganza's, red carpet star-studded events, and well you get the idea. But then comes the time you spill the beans and dish all the details, ( like what the celebs are doing, wearing, and with whom) . In the media industry we as celebrity entertainment reporters are ranked as E-listers, which is really not that bad considering we have something in common with celebrities, we bring you the latest news on them. It's not that bad ranking in the Top 5. Which reminds me of Kathy Griffin's comedy show " My life on the D-list", she's quite unique, and can be seen as the Celebrity judge on NBC's "Last Comic Standing". Just like the lyrics in the chorus of the song "Garden Party", by the late Rick Nelson, known to millions as Ricky from "The Ozzie and Harriet Show", "you can't please everyone". Celebrity columnists are journalists, and we all know the code of ethics. Journalists are required to be "impartial", yet as human beings we simply let our emotions and passion get in the way. Understandably, for most of us, the obstacles that we struggle to overcome in our lives are private, and they don't get splashed all over the media, like the celebrities. Yet, what was once known as admiration, has turned into celebrity obsession for millions in our society today. The celebrity craze continues to spread, so without further adieu, let's begin.
Paris Hilton, 25-year-old heiress, is now being dubbed "the Queen of all Media", adding recording artist/songwriter to her resume. Paris, "The Simple Life" TV reality star will be releasing her first album self-titled "Paris" , on or about Aug 1 by Warner Records and Hilton's label Heiress Records. The debut first single "Stars Are Blind" , is a reggae song filled with an alluring, charismatic emotion that is burning up the airwaves. Paris has her moments, remotely sounding like Gwen Stefani, a -la -Marilyn -Monroe- come- hither sexy voice, makes this a fun summer hit single, a perfect blend for anyone who favors a mix of reggae with a cool refreshing drink at hand. Whether you want to admit it or not, "Stars are Blind" is good, and I'm sure it will make millions since the teens feedback that I received on it are all positive. Let's face it, it's the teens that spend the money, or should I say the parents’ money. Another track from Hilton's album will be a remake of Rod Stewart's "Do You Think I'm Sexy”, according to a recent New York radio station interview. Paris knows that in every CD, there are only one or two tracks that people really like, so she has made this CD quite special, by making sure all the songs are fun and entertaining. Paris, you did it!
Speaking of hit songs, Shakira and Wyclef Jean have struck gold ( or should I say platinum) with " Hips Don't Lie", if it seems that every time you turn on the radio, you hear it, that's because it broke all records by being played 9,657 times in one week, according to Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems. It broke the record from last years mega-hit "Hollaback Girl" by "Gwen Stefani's which was played 9,582 times last June. Everyone loves Shakira, did you know that a remix of "Hips Don't Lie" is one of the official songs of the World Cup?
Attention all Wedding Crashers: If you're planning on crashing Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's wedding on June 25, be aware that they have spent an estimated $300,000 hiring every helicopter in Sydney to stop the Paparazzi from snapping pictures. FYI, the lovebirds have also Plan B, as a backup measure they have scheduled the ceremony for night when local regulations ban helicopters from flying.
If you have an estimated $15,000, you can have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, of course the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has to determine if it's worthy. So if you want to walk all over "Weird" Al Yankovic, according to the website WeirdAlStar.com, it looks like they have accomplished this mission. If approved, he should get his star next year, as of press time no word yet if he is.
In soccer news, one of the most powerful and emotional matches I've seen was Poland v Germany, on June 14th, the Polish national team gave it all they had, and that's something to be really proud of. The game was intense and Poland played very well, however the Poland coach Pawl Janas should have taken off player Radoslaw Sobolewski before he was red-carded leaving 10 men on the Poland team. The game remained scoreless until the last two minutes of stoppage time, when the Germans scored one goal and defeated Poland 1-0 . Polish fans are heart-broken after two pointless games they most likely will see an early departure from the World Cup. Poland's goalkeeper Artur Boruc overall did a fantastic job.
Rose's Scoop: Is Jamie Foxx doing reggae? Various reports have the Oscar-winner playing Bob Marley in a biopic that seems to have the backing of Marley's widow, Rita. Christina Aguilera's new album will be dropping on August 15, "Back to Basics' will be a double CD. Get well wishes go out to legendary comedian Jerry Lewis, 80.
