Hollywood Creativity!
Posted by Rose Quintiliano on Sep 17, 2006 - 7:28:00 AM

By now everyone has seen the photo of Baby Suri gracing the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. Let's take a minute to look into the creativity of Hollywood's elite when it comes to choosing baby names. Long gone are the down-to-earth names such as Michael, John, Marie, Kate, Dennis or Tom. Now, celebrities are more creative than ever, and I doubt if you'll find a Marie anywhere in Malibu. I bring this up since my daughter recently started High School, and just imagine the teacher who's taking attendance in the future, with names like Pilot Inspektor, Whizdom, Moxie Crimefighter, Apple, Shiloh, Suri. So why do these celebrities choose names that will stand out? Perhaps it's an expression of creativity. It's common practice in Hollywood to choose an unusual name for your child. You really shouldn't be that surprised since almost 43 years ago, the name Tatum O' Neal was on the birth certificate, then we had Chastity, Cher's offspring, followed by the girls of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis (Tallulah Belle, Scout, and Rumer.) Rock Stars, always had a taste for the unusual, or should I say creative, uniqueness, and one-of-a-kind names. Off the top of my head, there is Zowie, there are Peaches Honeyblossom, Heavenly Hiranni, Moon Unit and Tiger Lily's. By no means, is this to offend anyone, simply an observation on my part. On the same token, if I had a dollar for everytime I hear a celebrity or rock star mention the word (Surreal) I would be a billionaire.

On Sept. 29 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel there will be a Sotheby's exhibition in which Cher will be auctioning off almost 800 items; That will include jewelry, artwork, furniture and some of her outlandish stage costumes, including that Bob Mackie gown she wore to the Oscars. A percentage of the proceeds will go to her Cher Charitable Foundation, which the singer donates money to pet causes. The auction will run until Oct. 2 and is expected to raise more than $1 million.

Diddy, the entrepreneur-rapper-producer, who has added me to his MySpace, announced on Sept. 5, that he will be a father again. Yes, I'm among the 281,710 friends he has on MYSpace, the last time I checked. Everyone wants to be on his Top 8. Diddy and his longtime girlfriend, Kim Porter are expecting twins. Not only is Diddy seeing double, he'll also release his latest CD "Press Play" on Oct. 17.

What can be said about the MTV's 2006 VMA Awards show that hasn't been said already. According to a consensus of critics and viewers, one word came to mind„Ÿboring. There were some highlights to the show, Justin Timberlake who opened the show with Timbaland with his hit "SexyBack," Beyonce, and of course saving the best for last the appearance of Axl Rose, who presented the band The Killers.

Rose's scoop: Emilio Estevez, 44, will try romance again; He's planning on walking down the aisle with writer Sonia Magdevski. Sonia has one line in the movie "Bobby." The engagement was announced at the Venice Film Festival during a publicity tour of his new film "Bobby," his latest directorial effort. Estevez was once married to Paula Abdul. The band Green Day is back at the recording studio working on the follow-up to 2004's Grammy-winning "American Idiot," the band posted on their Web site GreenDay.com.  The TV show "7th Heaven," is back by popular demand, it's all about the ratings and the teens that make it possible. Finally, Chris Brown will be appearing in seven episodes of "The O.C.," that will be airing in November.
