(Brentwood) Building owner and billionaire, Charles T. Myer, decided last week that he will no longer follow through with his initial plan to to
build 60 luxury condos on San Vicente Boulevard.
Instead, a two-story retail complex will
be built that will retain the famous Dutton's Bookstore. Myer is said to have had a change of heart as he feels like Dutton's,
which has been located in Brentwood since 1984, is too fragile of a bookstore to be adjusted in any way.
Myer seems very invested in ensuring the bookstore's survival, he even will charge them a low rate. Myer has even arranged the method of the
construction so that the bookstore's headquarters
are built first, which will make the whole project more expensive, but in Myer's mind, more worthwile.
Part of the project's plan also includes ample parking, including valet parking underground, and
community-serving businesses such as a barbershop and hair salon. In addition, there will be three open-air plazas with a grand plethora of greenery.
Doug Dutton, the owner of the bookshop is elated with the plans and is very grateful to Myer for his understanding and his consideration in this entire process.
Councilman Bill Rosendahl, of Brentwood, is still eager to hear the people's feedback and input. He refers to Myer's plans as
a "moving and evolving project". e will just have to wait and see what will come about of Myer's plans.
