Trivia question: Where can you find locally produced fruits and vegetables, crafts, baked goods, prepared ethnic foods, fish, free-range eggs, goat cheese, olives, mushrooms, jams and jellies, juices, sauces, clothing, jewelry, seedlings, flowers, wildflower honey, "award winning bread," artwork, live music, lotions, ointments, massage, and the denizens of Hollywood on parade?

Each late April and March L.A.'s Jacaranda trees erupt in a blaze of lavender-blue, soon coating the ground beneath with fallen flowers. Native to tropical and subtropical South America, especially the high, dry deserts of
Brazil, the Jacaranda flourishes in Los Angeles.

A five-year drought, with rainfall well below normal again this year, has left Southern California once more tinder-dry and vulnerable. Exposed and lightly covered hillside earth is already desiccated, above.

See a stretch limo cruise by and thoughts of ease, comfort and glamour whoosh to mind in its tailwind. If you're a deep thinker possibly you take it a bit further and envy the driver, rubbing elbows with the rich and famous and all. Okey… but someday follow a limo home.
Meet Richie Wallace, super-stretch limo driver, here working on the south 40 of his charge.

Temperature in the 90s? Jump in the Mulholland Memorial pool! What could make more sense or be more fun? Being a certain type of the former and always ready for the latter, a score of kids did just that this past sweltering Sunday. Great fun was being had by all, too, till evicted, reluctantly, by Griffith Park Rangers. One Ranger was heard muttering, "I stalled two hours getting here. Gee, I used to swim here myself as a kid.”

Santa Monica's Third-Street Promenade is a bustling three blocks
of boutiques, sidewalk cafes, pushcarts and street performer where pedestrians rule. Not one automobile can be found along its entire length from Wilshire to Broadway. What could possibly account for such an anomaly? Word has it that this flora/fauna protector at its entrance won't allow them in.  A bit of cloning seems in order here.

Interviewed on set, Hollywood filmmaker Jeffrey Arsenault says, "Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable shooting non-condom sex scenes. That's part of the reason I've avoided the hard-core adult film business." Arsenault's views are shared by many in the Independent Film community.

If you frequent the streets of Hollywood you've seen John Peterson, bustling sidewalk traffic flowing around him like water around a rock in a stream.
