All That Entertainment

Universal Studios' most recent release "United 93" is incredible.  The acting is superb, special effects wonderful.   The scene where the actors portray the passengers of the doomed flight fighting their way to the cockpit was really exhausting for them.  By scene's end they were bruised and emotionally spent from having to relive this tragedy.   However, I hear all the family members who have seen the pre-release film are very proud of how their loved ones were depicted; most of the actors met the families of the characters they portrayed.

Never thought I'd say Television did an even better job than a movie studio.  While "United 93" by Universal is superbly done, it's not as gripping as "Flight 93" which A&E produced.  That wonderful Brennan Elliott as "Todd Beamer" was the only one who could have possibly played that role in the film.  As far as I am concerned he's the screen's only Todd Beamer, and this superb actor is now definitely ready for the big screen.  His television work has been excellent, there are still women swooning over his scenes in the new DVD release of Season One of Lifetime's "Strong Medicine," and his portrayal in movies like "The Silencer" and "Hobbs End" were quite simply gripping.

You know I think video games are for adults or very mature teens.  I have a friend Stephen Macek who does critiques of many of the new video games out there.  I have never been a video addict, but Steve is.  When he's not spending time with his gorgeous wife and beautiful, smart kids, he is playing video games and doing reviews for the internationally famous site:  http://www.loadedinc.com/ Steve says, "The video/computer gaming industry has finally moved away from a "geeks only" position and yes I'll confess I was involved in the geek era.  Back then though, it was mainstream and worthwhile and an even quasi-wholesome entertainment option.  Unfortunately, there are many games now out that are sub-par and not worth the money, or more importantly, the time.  Writing for Loadedinc.com has afforded me the opportunity to provide some subjective insight into specific games without any pressure from "the industry," and with hopes to help our readers make more informed decisions before making a purchase.  With games approaching $60.00 per, that's no small investment."

"Lindsay Lohan feuding with Jessica Simpson."  Wow, what a headline.  I get really disturbed by the space so many of these wannabe starlets receive when there are so many worthy people in the industry who far more deserve the face-time, like that wonderful singer Jullian Russell who has written a most beautiful song for her dad, an Iraq War veteran.  It makes even the soldiers who hear it weep from joy.   She performs the song perfectly and she's a name you definitely should note.  She'll become a star one day. I am certain you will be hearing this song on radio stations all over the country and the world by Father's Day.

I think CBS News taking Katie Couric was a major coup.  But Bob Schieffer is the only news anchor on Network Television who has a growing audience.  The mindless babble of so many cable news stations with varied agendas are becoming popular because people don't appear to want to hear the news and actually use their intelligence and knowledge to come to their own opinions.  Too bad CBS is more interested in a famous newscaster, thus kicking the brilliant Bob Schieffer to the curb.  In my opinion folks, and I'm a big Katie Couric fan, that was a major error on their parts.
