American Issues

The Beginning
Posted by Jason Wright on Feb 20, 2004 - 5:10:00 PM

Americans are face with issues from everywhere and which can be created by anything and everyone in America deals with these issues differently. These issues can be dealt with directly or indirectly. Every day we face the physiological need of hunger and we all deal with it directly by stuffing our mouths full of foods and drinks that may taste good, but end up putting great strain on the body because of all the preservatives and fats that they withhold.

We all (those of us who pay taxes) deal indirectly with those who decide to live off of free handouts from the government. They lack a monetary source and depend solely on the United States government to provide them with the appropriate financial resources to survive. I like to call this mooching. Their mooching creates an increase in taxes or a diversion in the tax money we pay to fund their laziness. Both examples provide the surface of what I will scratch while creating from my thoughts and ideas articles for the readers of Canyon News. I want to take you on a path that allows you to look down on all of the issues that you are faced with as if you are a neutral third party with logic and realism. I have traveled throughout the world and country which has given me a lot of experiences that in turn have provided me with the outside of the box views and opinions for thinking about  the situations that arise domestically within our country.

I have found that a lot of Americans create issues about nothing. Small, meaningless problems are created and portrayed though media channels which are picked up on by the majority of the public and turned into a huge issues which were a fallacy to begin with.

Gossip seems to be one of the major interests of the U.S. It can be seen by looking at the television shows such as sitcoms. Whenever I watch a sitcom (there is one on every night), it deals with drama about a few individuals who have put themselves in a situation based on their own stupidity or ignorance. Look at your favorite sitcom the next time it is on and watch it for the substance, you will find that there usually is none. There are also television shows about the sitcoms and the actors within them. Do we really need a look ahead or into the lives of the actors who are only there for entertainment? After years of watching sitcoms and entertainment television, we are filled with impractical ideas of our roles not only as male and female, but of how we are supposed to exist within our society. These are some issues that we all face and deal with as Americans.
