LAUREL CANYON— Hello, I have been a homeowner on Skyline Drive for the past 13 years. Therefore, it is with concern as well as interest that I inquire as to what is going on with all of the disruption on the two corners of Mulholland Drive and Laurel Canyon Drive? I would appreciate a response.

Dear Skyline Drive Resident,
This is what we found out from the City of LA:
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AWARDS CONTRACT FOR LAUREL CANYON BOULEVARD STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Contact: Enrique Teves (213) 978-0325 or (213) 978-0333
Los Angeles (September 27, 2002) ---The Department of Public Works Bureau of Engineering today awarded a contract to PPC Construction, Inc. for a Laurel Canyon Boulevard street improvement project in Studio City. Located in Councilwoman Wendy Greuel's 2nd District, this project involves widening and re-striping Laurel Canyon Boulevard at the intersection with Canton Drive, to alleviate the heavy flow of traffic in the area.
"Widening and re-striping will provide a left turn pocket for southbound traffic, making it safer for motorists and improving traffic flow," said Board of Public Works Commissioner Ronald Low.
"Studies indicate that this improvement project will definitely improve the flow of traffic as well as enhance the appearance of the targeted area."
Construction will start in October and be completed in December 2002. Streets will not be closed and all traffic lanes will remain unobstructed from 3 pm to 9 am. Only one lane may be closed at any time.
For more information on this project, please call Vahik Vartanians at 213-847-5070.
