LOS ANGELES—Tommy and Starlight, both 1 year and 7 months, are brother and sister. Their voyage along with four other siblings began back in September 2001 at the age of 2 weeks old when they were found motherless.
Tommy and Starlight, both 1 year and 7 months, are brother and sister. Their voyage along with four other siblings began back in September 2001 at the age of 2 weeks old. The litter had been found motherless on a boat that had been put into dry dock. They required bottle feeding, so Rescue Angels got the call. The litter was named "The Nauticals".
They were adopted together at the age of 8 weeks old to what we thought would be their permanent loving home. However that was not the case. On March 12, Rescue Angels received a distress call from their adoption mom advising us that due to family issues she needed to give up her feline children ASAP. Once again Rescue Angels came to their aid.
They are both loving, trusting and gentle spirits. Each has a fabulous muscular frame and truly make a visual statement. Once again we are seeking a permanent loving home for them together.
If It Must be a Kitten, Take Two (They’re very small!)
Seriously, if you have decided that an adult or young adult cat is not for you, please adopt two kittens, from the same litter if possible.
Once a kitten’s eyes are open it goes from staggering around to waddling around. After this, there is no stopping its curiosity and energy. Like a 2-year-old exploring the world around it, a kitten is apt to do anything and go anywhere. In short, it can drive its family crazy unless it has a friend to expend that energy on. Because your kitten has already learned how to play actively with its litter mates, it will try to befriend any other cat it can get its little paws into.
Getting back to driving a family crazy, if you already have adult cats in your household, they are not going to be thrilled with a kitten who pounces on their heads, plays with their tails, or wakes them up in the middle of a nap for a wrestling match. You get the idea: Go away kid, you bother me.
I have several cats of various ages and my older ones are exceedingly indulgent of a new kitten as long as it is playing with another kitten or young cat and leaving it in peace.
So, for the sake of your other cats, your drapes, your furniture and your nerves, take two! They’re small!
Next month we will talk about introducing a new cat into your feline family.
