CalBass Hosts Jr. NBAD

DELTA LOOP—CalBass hosted the 39th Annual Junior National Bass Association of the Deaf Event on June 16.

According to the CalBass website, their mission is to “incorporate more fishing/outdoors related programs in the future to break down the communication barriers for Deaf youth...[by being] involved with nature, understanding [the] environment and respecting it.”
On June 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., a $1000 scholarship was awarded to the winner of the 13–17 year-old age group. The event consisted of three groups.
The first being 2 to 5 years of age, the second being 6 to 12 years of age and the final category was for those of 13 to 17 years of age. Each category was given a trophy for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, according to the event's flyer.
The event was located at the B&W Resort on
964 Brannan Island Road in Delta Loop, California. The Junior National Bass Association of the Deaf Schedule started off with a short seminar and a fishing equipment check.
A fishing derby then took place at the dock from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Next, the fish were measured and scaled to determine the largest catches. After the winners were announced, a raffle took place before the event concluded at 5:00 p.m.
