DELTA LOOP—CalBass hosted the 39th Annual Junior National Bass Association of the Deaf Event on June 16.

According to the CalBass website, their mission is to “incorporate more fishing/outdoors related programs in the future to break down the communication barriers for Deaf youth...[by being] involved with nature, understanding [the] environment and respecting it.”

On June 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., a $1000 scholarship was awarded to the winner of the 13–17 year-old age group. The event consisted of three groups.

The first being 2 to 5 years of age, the second being 6 to 12 years of age and the final category was for those of 13 to 17 years of age. Each category was given a trophy for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, according to the event's flyer.

The event was located at the B&W Resort on 964 Brannan Island Road in Delta Loop, California. The Junior National Bass Association of the Deaf Schedule started off with a short seminar and a fishing equipment check.

A fishing derby then took place at the dock from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Next, the fish were measured and scaled to determine the largest catches. After the winners were announced, a raffle took place before the event concluded at 5:00 p.m.
