When it comes to Eileen Fulton, she is one of the world’s greatest beauties. An actress who has played Lisa on CBS’s “As the World Turns” for 48 years, she is also a brilliant cabaret star and a wonderful singer. Eileen’s voice just continues to improve over the years and whether she’s at Feinstein’s, The Metropolitan Room or on Broadway, Eileen is never a boring act.

Eileen remains so popular and her fans are always asking what she’s doing next. It’s always something. Eileen will perform at Feinstein’s on Sunday, April 27 and Monday, April 28 with Music Director, Bob Goldstone. Showtime is at 8 p.m. and you have never seen a cabaret star like Miss Fulton. I attended her debut at the famed lounge last year and it was a show worth seeing again. To find out more about it or to book tickets go to: www.eileenfulton.com and click on appearances.
When asked how she has become such a beautiful singer, Eileen said, “Mother and Dad had such love for music and were classical music devotees - I got my training from them.” Eileen was the daughter of a minister and she got a lot of training at her church growing up. It’s most likely why she’s not one bit nervous in front of an audience. But Eileen sings with such intensity and class. She seems to always be telling a story about her life and loves. Eileen added, “I get my inspiration from me. My life. What I've lived. Combine that with my very talented musical director, Bob Goldstone - who acts like a shrink. I pour my life stories out to him, he find a way to put it all into music.” Goldstone is the master at music making. Eileen feels very in tune with him and at ease. They perform like Fred and Ginger only with Eileen being more beautiful than Miss Rodgers.
My favorite song that to perform is “Castle in the Sand,” which is on her CD titled: “Along For the Ride.” I asked Eileen about the song and why it was so personal watching her perform it. Eileen said, “I was walking on the beach on one of my favorite islands off the coast of North Carolina and came across a sand castle that was just about to be beaten down by the oncoming tide. It was one of those simple experiences that stays in your mind. When I heard the song ”˜Castles in the Sand’ I immediately thought of that day and discovery and that simple walk on the beach. The sand castle represents endings to beautiful things. Marriages. Break-ups.”
Ever current in what new styles are in and even pop culture, Eileen’s favorite show is none other than FOX’s hit, “American Idol.” Eileen mentioned, “I am a ”˜Dancing with the Stars’ devotee myself and haven't watched (am I the only one, I think I am) ”˜American Idol’ in a while. While I hope the contestants don't lose their own sense of who they are, I do believe they are getting the chance of a lifetime. To get advice week after week from the judges who truly know what they are talking about is priceless. I hope they all take that advice. Getting Simon Cowell to tell you what's wrong and what's right with what you are doing is a Harvard education for a performer. You may not like what he says or how he says it - but is he really ever wrong? I don't think so. I wouldn't mind having him critique my act.”
Well, Eileen has been critiqued by the best and the harshest and they all agree, that her cabaret act is second to none.
Fulton’s CD’s are available on Amazon. My suggestions are: “Along For The Ride” and “Looking Back,” which is a moving and wonderfully performed compilation of the great star’s biggest hits in the ”˜70s.
