CLEARWATER, FL. – On August 26, Nick Bollea, the teenage son of wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan, was injured in a one car accident when the car he was driving slammed into a palm tree.

The accident occurred at about 7:30pm Sunday night along a section of SR 60. Police shut down a mile-long section of Court Street while they investigated the accident. “He [Bollea] was driving at a high rate of speed when his car left the highway and slammed into a palm tree. It happened just east of downtown,” said Wayne Shelor, a spokesman for the Clearwater Police Department.

Bollea, 17, and his passenger, 22 year old John Graziano, both needed to be cut from the destroyed Toyota Supra. Both were airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center in nearby St. Petersburg, where Graziano was listed in critical condition. Bollea received serious injuries in the wreck, but the extent of those injuries is unknown.

“We don’t believe there was any street racing or ‘drifting’ involved in the accident, but we are still investigating,” said another representative from the Clearwater Police Department.

Bollea, known as Nick Hogan on the hit TV series “Hogan Knows Best”, had expressed an interest in high-speed racing and drifting in subsequent shows. He received his Formula Drift license in 2006 and is signed as a professional driver with Dodge on the drifting circuit.
