A Model Way To Remodel
Posted by Susie Kopecky on Nov 9, 2008 - 8:09:59 PM

LOS ANGELES/VARIOUS—It was once said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. On the long, and sometimes arduous, journey of remodeling and home repairs, the first step is identifying your goal, and then finding the perfect contractor. What many may not realize is that finding your perfect contractor match may be more complicated than it seems. There is a new group in town, whose sole mission is to get local homeowners the information they need.

The fruit of a successful collaboration of Sterling Dove Films, LLC and host Loren Tino Rowyn, there is a new remodeling show in town! Hosted by Rowyn, the show is based on Rowyn's experience and ideals in the world of home renovations. Rowyn knows that “There is a right and wrong way of doing business, especially between home owners and contractor, and I am a firm believer in being smart with your money, since I was raised in a blue collar home; and especially now, under our current economic dourest.”

On the remodeling program, Rowyn will choose homeowners who satisfy the four basic questions: 1.) Do you need repairs? 2.) Is this a project within Southern California? 3.) Do you have the money for it?, and 4.) Do you want to be on television?

The entire mission of this show, the title of which is fiercely guarded, and currently can only be divulged as "T.A.," is to help inform homeowners of the correct way to go about home repairs and remodeling projects, and to do so in a responsible and thoughtful manner. According to Rowyn, "as a host, the concept is for me to teach "how to go through the various stages of setting up a home repair and remodeling plan. It will be Rowyn's goal to help homeowners get the perfect referrals, find the right bids and quotes to fit their budget (and their dreams) and to also remind homeowners how to maintain successful and healthy relationships with their contractor of choice. Rowyn notes that "unfortunately, as a whole, people are not educated [on] how to find contractors." Rowyn, coming from a blue collar home himself, recognizes the need to find discipline when embarking on home repairs and remodeling, and wants to help customers learn how to deal with bids/quotes and understand projected repair timelines and labor concerns. He also emphasizes the importance of receiving at least three repair/remodeling bids (of course, only coming from reputable businesses, with insurance, and which are licensed.)

Rowyn originally hails from New Jersey, and has been living in Los Angeles for the last 20 years, and is happily married. He credits the essence of his success with his East Coast upbringing, and the pride he takes in his work. What he believes will make this remodeling show absolutely stand out from its competition, is its "revolutionary concept of teaching the TV viewer the correct way of finding the right contractor at the best price regardless of the size of their home improvement, may it be a remodel, property service or home repair." Rowyn has supreme faith in a lifelong philosophy that “there is a karma found within any exchange of money for services, and I believe you, as the TV viewer and/or consumer, cannot take a posture that you want the work to be done at the cheapest price possible, because in the short and long run you are only going to get what you pay for; and if you try to take advantage of a contractor and have them commit to work (or a project) at a lower price than what would be considered fair, it is my assumption that for the contractor to accept the work from you for less, he (or she) must be either incompetent or desperate... And my bottom line is that you never do business with a desperate individual because they simply cannot be trusted; and as for incompetent, why would do business with someone like this?!”

Rowyn wants to show viewers how to watch out for themselves, while also making responsible and informed decisions on major financial endeavors, such as home renovations. He is eager to make a lasting mark in the world of renovations, as he knows the ins and outs of remodeling and hiring savvy but not deceptive contractors. Rowyn knows that unfortunately, many people simply were never taught how to go about organizing a home repair project, and that "the average person is ignorant to the function and practices of contractors, and without a general understanding of plumbing, electric, framing, painting, and so on, most people are lost in knowing what it will cost (or should cost)..." and that a conflict does exist, as there are many unsavory characters who will "actively pray on clients, because of their lack of knowledge!"

Rowyn credits his strength as a savvy businessman in the belief in “the morality that even though working as a contractor is an exchange of money for services (may it be done as a craftsperson or straight labor), this exchange should be fair and have a satisfactory balance to both parties...” Lucky homeowners who are selected to appear on the show will reap the benefits of working with a world-class company, though the repairs will not be free. However, though there will be no planned freebies, Rowyn will offer at least a 25 percent discount to those who agree to appear on the upcoming home remodeling show. According to Rowyn, when a homeowner is selected to appear on an episode of his show, he makes sure that the homeowner is privy to all vital info, as he takes “the responsibility to present a minimum of three work quotes per specialty (may it be plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.), so that the home owner can see a breakdown of labor, materials and time duration to complete each phase of the project.”

And for those who want more information but do not want to appear on television, Rowyn does offer a completely free service, in which homeowners will receive various bids for their home renovations, from reputable and trusted names in the contractor world. And for those who seek sage advice but do not care to appear on television, Rowyn welcomes you to contact him through a completely free referral company, Craftsmen United (www.craftsmenunited.net) or to contact him directly at his local company, Omni-Remodel (www.omniremodel.com).

A chance to have your home remodeled by a dedicated professional, AND the possibility of appearing on television
who could want more?
