Many people were not fans of the reboot of the franchise; however, I was one that disagreed with the naysayers. I thought the picture was quite thrilling to say the least; of course the comedic element was not as effective as director Marc Webb may have hoped. You can’t deliver a trailer that gives the spectator the impression the picture will be dark when with all due respect its not.
For those who are not familiar with the comic book universe Electro is one of Spiderman’s formidable foes who has the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightening. It will be difficult for Webb to capture the essence of the villain’s super abilities without the picture coming across cheesy, but I’m more interested in discovering rather Foxx will take on a twisted dark turn of the villain or a more charismatic turn.
Foxx has indicated in reports that Electro is expected to be presented to the audience in a more grounded reality and that his signature colors of green and yellow would be redesigned. The best way to reinvent a well-known character is to present a new image of the character. Foxx is indeed a versatile actor capable of tackling any role given to him. It will be interesting to see his take on the villain, particularly if the audience believes his portrayal as the villain.
With Shailene Woodley cast as Mary Jane Watson and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osbourne the picture is shaping to be quite intriguing to say the least. “The Amazing Spiderman 2” is expected to arrive in theaters on May 2, 2014.
