It was the first major acquisition by a studio at the Cannes Film Festival so far. Warner Bros. is very high on Ryan after he starred in “Gangster Squad” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” The studio is paying a minimum of $3 million for the film.

The picture stars Christina Hendricks from “Mad Men,” Saoirse Ronan from “The Lovely Bones,” Eva Mendes from “The Place Beyond The Pines” and Matt Smith from “Dr. Who.” Marc Platt is one of the producers for the picture that revolves around Hendricks character who is swept into a dark underworld as her son finds a road to an underwater town.

“How To Catch A Monster” is scheduled to be released in 2014. Ryan Gosling talked about taking time off from acting with his next project “Only God Forgives” comes out in July. He just finished working with Terrence Malik in his upcoming untitled film.
