Gosling's Film Finds A Home

HOLLYWOOD—On Tuesday, May 14, Warner Bros. picked up the rights to Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut “How To Catch A Monster.” The film has begun shooting on location in Detroit.

It was the first major acquisition by a studio at the Cannes Film Festival so far. Warner Bros. is very high on Ryan after he starred in “Gangster Squad” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” The studio is paying a minimum of $3 million for the film.


The picture stars Christina Hendricks from “Mad Men,” Saoirse Ronan from “The Lovely Bones,” Eva Mendes from “The Place Beyond The Pines” and Matt Smith from “Dr. Who.” Marc Platt is one of the producers for the picture that revolves around Hendricks character who is swept into a dark underworld as her son finds a road to an underwater town.


“How To Catch A Monster” is scheduled to be released in 2014. Ryan Gosling talked about taking time off from acting with his next project “Only God Forgives” comes out in July. He just finished working with Terrence Malik in his upcoming untitled film.
