"Lee Daniels' The Butler" Tops Box Office

HOLLYWOOD— “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” took the No. 1 spot at the box-office again this weekend. The film starring Forest Whitaker took in $16.5 million in its second week to a cumulative total of $51.7 million.

The Jennifer Aniston comedy, “We’re The Millers” took the No. 2 spot with $13 million to bring its total to $91.2 million after three weeks in theaters. “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” based on the popular book series took the No. 3 spot with $9.3 million. Edgar Wright finishes off his Cornetto Trilogy with “The World’s End” starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, which took the No. 4 spot with $8.7 million. “Disney’s Planes” took the No. 5 spot with $8.5 million.


This coming week will bring the debut of “One Direction: This Is Us.”  The action film “Getaway” starring Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez will also hit theaters.
