Russell Crowe To Make Directorial Debut

HOLLYWOOD—Actor Russell Crowe announced his feature film directorial debut. It’s a period drama “The Water Diviner,” with a script by Andrew Anastasios and Andrew Knights.

The movie is based in the year 1919, an Australian father returns to Gallipoli to recover the bodies of his sons. Only to find hope in a place where he didn’t think there would be anything left. The writers got the idea looking through war diaries, soldier’s records and war memorial records. The Gallipoli epic was optioned by Hopscotch Films and is due to begin production sometime in 2013.


Troy Lum, Andrew Mason and Keith Rodger are set to produce “The Water Diviner” through Hopscotch Films and Fear Of God Films. Russell Crowe can be seen in a theater staring in the Zack Snyder epic “Man Of Steel” he plays superman’s biological father Jor-EL. He will also star in the upcoming “Noah,” in the title role directed by Darren Aronofsky.
