Box Office Update

UNITED STATES—“Man Of Steel” ran through the competition on the way to becoming the biggest debut in the month of June. The Zack Snyder directed and Christopher Nolan produced adaptation of Superman skyrocketed at the box office making $125 million in domestic gross and an astonishing $196.7 million worldwide.

The No. 2 spot went to Seth Rogen’s “This Is The End,” the judgment day comedy got a lot of revenue due to word of mouth buzz. It made $32 million with a budget of around $32 million. The No. 3 spot went to “Now You See Me” with $10.3 million continuing it’s impressive run. “Fast & Furious 6” took the No. 4 spot with $9.4 million to push it’s overall domestic gross to $219.6 million. The No. 5 spot went to “The Purge” which saw an extreme plummet from the No. 1 spot a week ago making only $8.2 million bringing its total to $51.8 million, making it a huge hit considering it only cost $3 million to make.

 

This coming week will see the release of the adaptation to the zombie best seller “World War Z” staring Brad Pitt. Also hitting theaters this week is the much-anticipated sequel to Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.,” “ Monsters University” with the voices of Billy Crystal and John Goodman as college students.
