The Radish, Another Root Veggie!

The radish is a great source of fluoride to prevent tooth decay.
UNITED STATES—The are many veggies that we eat, that Americans know so little about, heck we sometimes forget the veggie is even in the dish that we’re consuming. Any thoughts on what vegetable I’m referring to?Let me give you a hint, it’s a root vegetable. It’s the radish!Some may be surprised to discover that it doesn’t take a long time for a radish to sprout, the purple, turnip-shaped veggie can sprout as soon as three days after the seed is planted.
Radishes are common ingredients in the everyday salad, but it’s important to note the color can vary from a red to pink to white. It has a delicious crunch and can be a tad on the sweet side, its not super sweet, but has just enough punch to eat on its own. This veggie tends to have spring, summer and winter varieties. Asia that has become popular in American cuisine. It’s a popular ingredient in many slaws.
This veggie is packed with asorbic and folic acid, as well as potassium. It’s also a good source of folate, calcium and fluoride; fluoride is important for reducing tooth decay. For a tasty summer treat, don’t make any ole coleslaw, julienne cabbage, carrots, pineapple, a Granny Smith apple and a Daikon radish, for a slaw that can be eaten on its own or topped on a juicy burger.
