UCLA Basketball Faces NCAA Probe
Posted by Eric Lemus on Sep 5, 2012 - 1:23:41 AM

WESTWOOD—Two members of UCLA's #1 ranked basketball recruiting class await an NCAA decision on their eligibility after reports surfaced Tuesday that an investigation was underway on whether improper benefits were accepted.

We reported that Shabazz Muhammad missed the Bruins trip to China in August because he is under investigation by the NCAA. However, Scout.com reported that Kyle Anderson and Tony Parker were also being investigated by the NCAA.

UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero called the report "misleading and inaccurate" and said that there are two members of the team that have not yet received "final amateurism certification from the NCAA."

It is believed that while Parker had been under investigation, he has since been cleared to play, suggesting that the two players are Muhammad and Anderson.

While Tony Parker did not play in China because he was nursing an injury, Anderson did see time on the court. Anderson averaged 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists in the Bruins three games in Beijing and Shanghai.

While very few details are known, it does not appear that UCLA committed any infractions in their recruitment of the freshmen. The investigations are rumored to be over contact with professional agents.
