Basketball Star Discovers His Passion!
Posted by Michael St John on Jul 27, 2012 - 8:11:41 AM

LOS ANGELES—HELLO AMERICA! Athlete JEFF SCHOLZ who performed basketball magic whenever he commandeered the court at Dominican University and later one in Sydney, Australia has decided to see what kind of life he can build in Hollywood.  He eagerly admits that being in front of the camera has always been something he has dreamed about most of his life.

Q: When you were a young kid what kind of things did you dream about?

A: Oh, I use to fantasize about being another Tarzan or even a Clint Eastwood. I liked how they handled any kind of challenge. And best of all how they kick the butt of the bad dudes. Yeah, I use to dream about being that kind of character ”“ movies impacted my life in a big way.  As to how I looked at the world as a kid.. well, I was at times very confused. There always seemed to be a war some place. A lot of my buddies lived in a house of one parent, usually a mom. And I’d wonder why it was this way. In a lot of the movies I watched, there was a mother and father close by if there was a problem.

Q: How about your home situation? Did it give you a feeling of security?

A: Well, my mother, Dixie, brought my brother and I up. She worked night and day. No father in the house but we didn’t care, so we made the best of it. I enjoyed sports at a very young age and when I discovered I was good at it, I poured all my energy into it. And my mom encouraged me in every way. She’s a great mom and still is!

Q: When did you discover that basket ball was your possible key to success?

A: In high school. I enjoyed the challenge of an adversary ”“ the idea of out thinking him and knowing you have your team behind you is awesome. Of course hearing the folks in the bleaches yell their praise when the ball went in the basket, there’s no better moment, believe me! To be honest, I was no great student; the fact that I was good on the basketball  court, enabled me to get a scholarship. It made me realize more than ever that my talent in sports would be my open door to a better life. And I actually believed after graduation that my life would be in sports, especially when I along with three other players were chosen to join an Australian team. However, the move didn’t last very long. One of our players was Afro American, and when he was on the court, people in the stands called him terrible names, even the “n” word. This is when the other guys and I decided to pull out and return to the states. If our brother-player was going to be disrespected then there was no place for the rest of us. That was that!

Q: Then what happened? After all, you walked away from a possible a big money deal for yourselves.

A: The other guys hooked up with other jobs in sports i.e., coaches, physical ed. Teaching or went on for a graduate degree. With me, I thought I would try acting. I got into several short films and everyone liked what they saw ”“ so eventually I got an agent. But I must tell you that after getting back to the states I met a girl and married her. And she encouraged me to go for it ”“ if it was something that I felt in my gut that I could do, I shouldn’t allow anything to get in my way.  So I’ve been meeting and having sessions with directors, producers and all sorts of people who feel that I was a good time for films. So that’s where I am now. I feel that I’m one  of the luckiest guys in the world to have so many people behind me.
