UNITED STATES—Nirvana fans may wish to mark their calendars in preparation as UME has recently announced the 20th anniversary reissue of the band's third and final studio album, “In Utero” set to be released on September 24, 2013.

The multi-format collection will consist of more than 70 re-mastered, remixed, unreleased and live recordings. Re-release packages offered include a 3 CD+1 DVD super deluxe edition and a standard digital/CD re-master of the original album. UME confirmed that the various reissues of the album encompass original B-sides, never-before-heard demos, and the complete recording of the “Live and Loud” concert from Seattle's Pier 48 on December 13, 1993; the live performance will also get a standalone single-disc DVD release.

Released on September 13, 1993, “In Utero” marked a complete stylistic contrast from the band's previous album, “Nevermind.” Broadcasting in a brash and uncompromising milieu, the album reintroduced Nirvana in an intentionally confrontational and unflinching manner and upon release the album garnered critical acclaim, which has steadily accumulated over the years. Characterized perfectly by Rolling Stone reviewer David Fricke, “In Utero” is “brilliant, corrosive, enraged and thoughtful, most of them all at once. But more than anything, it's a triumph of the will.”
