Sign Of The Fox Has Something For Everyone
Posted by Mary J. Peterson on Mar 1, 2003 - 11:27:00 PM

LOS ANGELES—Local band Sign of the Fox had its inception with four musical friends growing up together in Chicago. Musicians Mike Criddell, Dave Georgeff, Mark Gracious and Jack Polick shared a love of music and would eventually move to Los Angeles, working separately and together in various bands, fine tuning their individual styles. Each member of the band plays numerous instruments and contributes their songwriting talents to the group.

Sign of The Fox's self-titled CD was independently produced by the band and has been instrumental in opening doors for the foursome since its release early this year. What first began as "recording for fun" soon turned into a full-length CD. A combination of revamping past collaborations and freshly written songs, Sign of the Fox developed its own theme. Songs such as the energetic "Keep Up With Me," a pumped up version of "How Lucky Am I" and "(She's My) Sweet Baby" with Joey Ramone's voice asking if it's called "(She's My) Sweet Baby" or "She's My Sweet Baby" as the song ends.

Most recently, Sign of the Fox played to a sold out crowd at the El Rey Theater as the opening act for Phantom Planet and was introduced onstage by Johnny Knoxville of "Jackass" fame. Additional shows are scheduled in the Los Angeles area in the coming months.

Georgeff, who has spent time as the bassist for the 90's alternative band Wax, described Sign Of The Fox's musical style as "90's alternative mod-rock."

Lead singer Polick has the distinction of having been named "One of the Sexiest People in LA" by Los Angeles magazine in addition to appearing with his friend Johnny Knoxville in "Jackass: The Movie" and the television show.

Sign of the Fox is scheduled to perform at The Bigfoot Lodge on March 18 and was scheduled to perform at The Viper Room on February 25.
