Another Four Years For President Obama
Posted by Ivetta Babadjanian on Nov 6, 2012 - 9:58:49 PM

WASHINGTON D.C.—Democratic President Barack Obama won a second term in the White House, and Republican candidate Mitt Romney officially conceded on Tuesday, November 6. Prior to the Romney's speech in which he announced his concession, news sources such as FOX, CNN and NBC projected that Obama had in fact won the election.

Projections indicate that Obama has won in the District of Columbia and 24 states including swing states such as Ohio, Iowa, Virginia, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. Republican candidate Mitt Romney won in 23 states including North Carolina and Indiana, both of which Obama won in the last election.

As of press time, a majority of the votes have been accounted for indicating that Obama won the electoral vote by 303 to 206 and the popular vote of
60,662,174to Romney's 57,820,742.It has also been reported that Democrats have won the majority of the Senate; however, the House of Representatives remains with a majority of Republicans.

On election day, Romney visited Cleveland and Pittsburgh to urge Ohio voters to cast in their ballots in favor of the Republican party. Later on, he spent time with his family at a hotel suite near his election night party in Boston.

The president spent the day doing various interviews and playing basketball, an Election Day tradition for Obama. He awaited the results of the election at his home in Hyde Park, Chicago where he had dinner with the first family.

There were many problems that were reported from polling places all over the country, and both candidates had lawyers monitor the voting in case of irregularities. It is reported that the Justice Department had approximately 800 observers in 23 states to respond to any allegations of fraud.

Romney officially conceded and called President Obama in order to congratulate him on the election.
"I wish all of them well, particularly the president, the first lady and their daughters," he told his supporters. "I ran for office because I'm concerned for America," and added, "Like so many of you, Paul and I have left everything on the field. We have given our all to this campaign."

President Obama walked on stage in front of his supporters in Chicago, Illinois to Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours." "We are an American family, we rise and fall together as one nation, as one people. For the United States of America, the best is yet to come," said Obama.

“While our road has been hard, our journey has been long, we have picked ourselves up, we have fought our way back and we know in our hearts, of the United States of America, the best is yet to come,” he said.
