OKLAHOMA—An Australian man attending an
College on a baseball scholarship was shot and killed by a group of “bored” teenagers. Three boys that committed the random act of violence decided to murder someone for fun.
Christopher Lane, 22, of
Australia was found dead while visiting the town of
Oklahoma where his girlfriend and her family live. Three boys between the ages of 15 and 17 are in custody and face a court appearance on Tuesday afternoon. A woman called the police after she found Lane on the ground. Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford said Lane was staying with his girlfriend and her family in
Duncan and happened to jog by the home where the boys were staying.
The district attorney is expected to file first-degree murder charges on Tuesday and all three will be arraigned at Stephens County District Court. It’s still not known whether the boys will be charged as adults or juveniles. Sarah Harper, Lane’s girlfriend, said they had just returned from
Australia a week ago. Lane attended
Ada about 85 miles west of
Duncan. He started 14 games as a catcher last season and was entering his senior year.
