ORLANDO, Fla.—Acquitted of
murder charges involving her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie, Casey
Anthony will have to report to the Orlando probation office by 12 p.m.
on Friday, August 26 or face a bench warrant being issued and then being
arrested and extradited back to Orlando, Fla., where she faced a trial
over the death of her daughter and pled guilty in an earlier case of
check fraud. The check fraud case is the reason why Anthony is being
ordered back to the city she left in disgrace after she was found not
guilty of murdering little Caylee.

Five years ago, Judge Strickland made a verbal order in his courtroom
that if Casey Anthony was acquitted of murder charges that he would
order her to serve probation in the check fraud case immediately after
her release. Judge Belvin Perry presided over the murder case, and after
Anthony was released to a shocked courtroom and outraged public, she
began her exile from Florida and reportedly lived for a short time in
Ohio before being ordered by Judge Perry to return and honor the
probation order that his predecessor required to end case she agreed to
plead to. However, in what the court is calling a clerical error, the
Orlando jail gave Anthony a letter stating that she’d completed her
two-year probation while in custody awaiting trial in the murder case.
Even though no previous inmate had been released without probation
claiming they had served the commitment in prison or in jail, Anthony’s
defense attorney Jose Baez claimed that she had indeed served her time,
and filed an appeal before the Florida Appeals Court, which was denied
on Tuesday.
Baez is also being investigated by the Florida Bar for possible
violations relating to this case, and he has said that he is not guilty
and looks forward to the end of the investigation to clear his name.
He’s faced approximately 20 other ethical violation accusations and
stated that he was cleared of those as well. Baez further said that
when a defense attorney represents an unpopular defendant that these
issues often arise. He’s speaking of his client, Casey Anthony, which a
national poll recently taken stated that she was the “most hated woman
in America” immediately following her acquittal.
The loss of her appeal means Anthony must serve one-year probation in
the check fraud case, and must become gainfully employed, must not
drink in excess and must not use any illegal substances or socialize
with known felons or convicts. It remains highly doubtful that Anthony
would be employed by any of the businesses around her Orlando home, unless her
attorneys choose to offer her a position. During post-trial interviews,
several of her attorneys including Jose Baez stated that Casey Anthony
wishes to enter into a career in the legal system, such as a paralegal.
She was reportedly answering telephone calls for the firm, which Baez
runs, while on bail after initially being arrested for the disappearance
of her daughter Caylee.
Her time of being in hiding must come to an end in less than 72
hours, and attorney Matt Morgan with Morgan and Morgan in Orlando is
preparing his firm’s case against Casey Anthony for defamation of one of
their clients, Zenaida Gonzalez, who was fired from her job as a nanny
when Casey Anthony claimed a nanny named Zenaida Gonzalez kidnapped her
daughter Caylee. In opening arguments, Jose Baez told the court and the
jury that Anthony had made up the nanny, and that she never existed.
Casey Anthony has reportedly been in Florida for the past few days in
preparation for the possible loss of her appeal, so that she could
report to the Orlando authorities to begin serving her probation. No
word on whether Anthony will report privately or, as all other
probationers do, in the public offices.
