UNITED STATES—U.S. Marines Chris Senopole and Adam Shatarsky are walking across the country to raise funds to help injured service members return home. Senopole and Shatarsky have reached out to social media by updating their journey on Facebook and Twitter to rally up the support of their effort titled “The Wounded Warrior Project.”

According to their Facebook page titled “The Wounded Walk,” the men describe the reasons for their journey by saying, “This project is dedicated to the brave individuals who have served our Country. We are two former Marines who recently separated from the military and now want to serve our Brothers and Sisters in Arms. Our walk will pay homage to those who fought and are still fighting.”

The team is determined to embark on a four-month-long journey on foot taking them from Camp Pendleton to Washington, D.C., to raise funds and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The ultimate goal is to raise $20,000, as said on their website and they have raised $15,010 by 217 people in the last two months.

With 1,820 likes on Facebook and 2,160 people talking about it and 722 followers on twitter, it appears the country supports The Wounded Walk as well.  While their journey took them along the 10 freeway near Palm Springs, the group raised more than $6,000 from their online fundraiser.

According to their Facebook page, the walk will begin at Camp Pendleton on June 15, and will cover roughly 2700 miles.  The journey will end on October 1.  Their page promises, “We will have constant updates and status trackers so you can follow our journey.”

Their promise is coming true as updates are flying constantly to keep their supporters informed. Last week they have made two statements among other updates on various social media sites.

On June 22, 2013, they said, “Made it to AZ! California you are the nicest most amazing group of people We've had the pleasure to meet! Keep following! We love you! #SoreFeetNation.”

Tuesday, June 25, they said, “Good Morning! Slowly heading towards Flagstaff today the GPS will be on the same bat time same bat channel. Tell everyone you know to follow our journey! Lets grow this cause to every household in America!”

Supporters are constantly providing encouraging words and donations. The following comments were posted, “Keep up the good journey. We are proud of you and all that you have done and are doing for your brothers and sisters. You are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless!” posted Tom Senopole yesterday.

“I am Retired Navy and strongly back anything that shows support and gratitude for our WOUNDED WARRIORS! Keep it up guys! America is 100% behind you!” said JW Hatch 6 days ago.
