Paul Ryan Visits North Carolina

RALEIGH, NC—Mitt Romney chose Congressman Paul Ryan
as his GOP VP candidate in recent weeks, saying Ryan “has become an intellectual
leader of the Republican Party.” On August 11, Romney introduced Paul Ryan in Norfolk, Virginia, stating that “His leadership begins with character and
values. Paul Ryan works in Washington but his roots remain in Janesville,
Wisconsin."
Paul Ryan was born and raised in Janesville,
Wisconsin, and is currently serving his seventh term as a Member of
Congress. Ryan and his wife Janna live in Janesville with their three children.
Ryan is Chairman of the House Budget Committee where
he works to improve the federal government's fiscal discipline and
accountability. Paul is also a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, a
committee that has jurisdiction over tax policy, Social Security, health care,
and trade laws.
Paul plans to tackle the fiscal crisis of the US
economy driven by “the explosion of entitlement spending.”Paul’s website proposes “The Path
to Prosperity,” which he claims will help spur job creation, stop the
government’s overspending, and lift the “crushing burden of debt.”
On the most recent of Paul Ryan’s campaign visits, the
Congressman visited Raleigh, North Carolina. During his speech, he once again
addressed governmental overspending, comparing our federal government to that
of Europe. Ryan says that “we will turn out just like
Europe if we stick with European policies.” Ryan went on to state that ”President
Obama and the words ‘fiscal responsibility’ do not belong in the same
sentence with one another.” Meanwhile in Iowa, Romney stated that Obama has
“doubled the national debt.”
Obama has focused on education while in Iowa and Nevada
the past two days. “I got a question for Governor Romney: How many teachers
jobs are worth another tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires?” Obama
rhetorically asked. He argued that there are nearly 300,000 less teachers and
school workers since budget cuts in 2009. He then pinned the blame on House Republicans for blocking a 2011 bill that would have prevented further layoffs
as the crowed booed.
