Ron Palillo Passes Away

BEACH GARDENS—The star of “Welcome Back, Kotter,” Ron Palillo, died at his home
in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The actor was 63 years old when he had a heart
attack and died in his sleep on Tuesday, August 14.
He was
famous for his role in “Welcome Back, Kotter,” in which he costarred with
John Travolta and Robert Hegyes, who played “Sweathog." Hegyes passed away
earlier this year in January. Palillo was also known for having written the
play, “The Lost Boy." He performed in several theater roles and bit parts
in shows.
Palillo
was born on April 2, 1949, in Cheshire, Connecticut. His passion began when his
mother enrolled him in local theater as a young boy. He later indulged his
interest and attended the University of Connecticut, where he participated in
Shakespearean productions.
The actor
is survived by his partner, Joseph Gramm, his two brothers and a sister. The
cherished pop star of the 1970’s will always be remembered.
