WASHINGTON D.C—On Thursday, June 27, the U.S. Senate voted in favor of passing the Immigration Reform Bill.
For 11 million undocumented immigrants it gives them the chance at legal status and a path to citizenship. The final vote was tallied at 68-32, with support coming from 14 Republicans.
Crowds roared after receiving news of the majority rule. Under this bill, immigrants will be given immediate legal status, the ability to work and pay taxes, and earning citizenship after 13 years of good behavior.
