The Wives Take The Stage
Posted by Cassie Day on Sep 5, 2012 - 7:24:48 PM

TAMPA, FL—In the last two weeks the nation has heard from Ann Romney, and First Lady Michelle Obama concerning their husband’s character of heart and devotion to the country. Each purposefully touched on personal aspects of their husband’s lives relating to the nation of their hardships and accomplishments.

Ann Romney, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s wife, spoke at the Republican National Convention on August 28th, in Tampa, Florida. She congratulated women on their accomplishments concerning the country, praising them for their hard work stating the country wouldn’t be what it is today without them.

She then spoke of her husbands’ life accomplishments and his desire to support Americans at every step of the way. Romney described her husband as a man that wants to fix problems more than others, a determined man that would work harder for America. Romney stated, “I can’t tell you what will happen over the next four years. But I can only stand here tonight as a wife and a mother and a grandmother, an American, and make you this solemn commitment. This man will not fail.”

First Lady Michelle Obama spoke on September 4th in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Democratic National Convention. Her speech was different in that she spoke on her experience as the First Lady, how she’s been given the opportunity to see the American spirit. The spirit those teachers have in continuing to work without pay, and she relates personally about her father and her husbands grandmother.

Obama explained to the audience that when her husband thinks of hard working Americans his desire is great to assist them, because he thinks of his grandmother and her father. Their joined commitment to provide their daughters, and America’s sons and daughters with a better future is their target.

Obama stated, “And he [Barack Obama] believes that when you work hard and done well and walk through that doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you. No, you reach back and give other folks the same chances that help you succeed.”

Both Romney and Obama encouraged the nation that their husbands were dedicated men to the country, willing to work hard and make the future better for all.
