Apple Visionary and Legend Steve Jobs

Visionary is normally an overused word in the English language, however, it is quite fitting of Jobs, whose creativity, love for his mission in life, hard work and persistence are the aspects that made America such a great country, and so many like him successful in this nation. He was the Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein of the current generation. His Apple stores around the country proved what an impression he left on his customers. Every store in the nation as well as around the world has a memorial set up by fans, customers and employees, who all want to share in memorializing this great man. From San Francisco to Los Angeles, Houston to Sydney Australia, store customers paid homage to an amazing individual today.
Jobs, a Buddhist, was born in San Francisco. He started Apple Computer with friend Steve Wozniak in his parents’ garage in 1976. Six years ago, Jobs had talked about how a sense of his mortality was a major driver behind that vision. His death after a long battle with pancreatic cancer sparked an outpouring of tributes as world leaders, business rivals and fans alike lamented his premature passing and celebrated his monumental achievements.
Jobs triumphed over Seattle, Washington native Bill Gates over the past few years, but even his rival Gates had kind and sincere words on the giant’s passing. Apple still faces challenges in the absence of the man who was its chief product designer, marketing guru and salesman nonpareil. Phones running Google’s Android software are gaining share in the smartphone market, and there are questions over what the next big thing is in Apple’s product line.
A college drop-out and the son of adoptive parents, Jobs changed the technology world in the late 1970s, when the Apple II became the first personal computer to gain a wide following. He did it again in 1984 with the Macintosh, which built on the breakthrough technologies developed at Xerox Parc and elsewhere to create the personal computing experience as we know it today.
The maverick streak that was central to his persona got him tossed out of the company in 1985, but he returned in 1997 and after a few years began the rollout of a troika of products -- the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad, that again upended the established order in major industries. Jobs’s net worth was around $7 Billion, proving the American dream is still alive and well for those who believe in themselves and are willing to work nonstop to make their dreams come true.
In 1993 Steve Jobs said the following, “I’m sorry, it’s true. Having children really changes your view on these things. We’re born, we live for a brief instant, and we die. It’s been happening for a long time.” The legacy this great American leaves behind will go on for a long time as well.
Jobs was surrounded by his wife and immediate family when he died in Palo Alto, California, Apple said late on Wednesday. He died of a rare form of pancreatic cancer similar to that of former actor Patrick Swayze. Other details were not immediately available. No public memorial service has been announced, however, Apple did state on Thursday that they will offer a memorial celebration of their founder’s life in the near future.
