Halle Berry Gets Hollywood's Second Top Honor

HOLLYWOOD—To many, she’s the epitome of the Hollywood starlit. From her gritty roles in films such as “Monster’s Ball” and “Swordfish” to her action hero poweress in the “X-Men” trilogy, Halle Berry has definitely made her mark in the minds and now streets of Hollywood.

Berry recently was awarded the coveted honor of having her name starred and planted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This induction has been 3 years in the making. Berry was to be inducted in 2003, but due to her busy schedule and planning situations, the star did not make it to the streets until now.

The star has received numerous awards, but most notably she recently won an Academy Award for her performance as the widow, turned girlfriend to Billy Bob Thorton’s prison guard character in the drama, “Monster’s Ball”. This Academy Award win made Berry the first African American female to win the prestigious Best Actress nod.

Berry got her start as the first runner up in the 1986 Miss USA pageant. Following that success, she starred in small television and film roles until she made her breakthrough performance in the much pushed television film, “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge”. For that performance, as the ill fated songstress, Halle Berry received an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

Berry recently was featured in InStyle magazine where she discussed her rise to fame, the highs and the lows and how she has finally come out on top. The actress has had her share of bad instances with the press, but continues to shine behind quality pieces of work that she is proud of. She is presently producing and directing two films that are slated for release at the end of the year.

The actress showed a great deal of emotion in her win and says that seeing her friends and family there, to support her, means so much.
