Levithan And Cohn To Visit Santa Monica
Posted by Michael Mintos on Oct 15, 2012 - 5:00:15 PM
SANTA MONICA—The writing team of David Levithan and Rachel Cohn will visit the Santa Monica Public Library on Sunday, October 21 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a discussion with readers and fans. The formal conversation will allow participants to discuss with Levithan and Cohn about their new solo books as well as their previous work together.
The most notable collaboration between the two authors is Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist, which spawned a film adaptation that was released in 2008 starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings. The young adult literature authors also wrote the two follow-up books, Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List and Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares, together.
The discussion session, which is co-presented by Children’s Book World, will focus primarily on Levithan’s new novel Every Day and Cohn’s new novel Beta. According to www.davidlevithan.com, Every Day is about the character “A,” who wakes up in a different person’s body every morning and experiences that person’s life. Things become complicated when “A” wakes up in the body of Justin one day and falls in love with Justin’s girlfriend Rhiannon.
Beta, by Rachel Cohn, is the first book in a four book Science Fiction series, according to www.rachelcohn.com. It is about a 16-year-old clone named Elysia replicated from another deceased teenage girl. As the automaton begins to feel human emotions, she must learn to survive while serving the people of the utopic
island of
Demesne.
A book sale and signing will follow and free tickets to the discussion will be released one hour prior to the start of the event.
