UNITED STATES—That George W. Bush and his administration is "intelligence/Intelligence

challenged", is hardly news by now.  And a lack of intelligence with a small "i", leads quite naturally to an inability to process the kind of Intelligence which is spelled with a big "I"; the kind that the spooks in the CIA and other such agencies gather.

Back when such agencies were investigating Martin Luther King and the movement against the Vietnam War, this might be amusing.  But when Intelligence which is either poor or poorly processed, leads to both 9-11 and the Iraq War; which is, at once counterproductive to the real war against terrorism and immoral and illegal as well; we can only be appalled and indeed fearful.

Bush's performance in this area is so wretched that, when patriotic Americans hear him plead that he has "prevented" another 9-11, we know that not only is this apt to be nothing more than luck which is quite literally dumb, but that he has really caused a tragedy a hundred, or even a thousand, times greater than the attack on the Twin Towers—as the situation in Iraq slides ever more deeply into the abyss.

And among most frightening things of all is that Bush, not surprisingly, has been using the crisis, which was generated first by 9-11 and then compounded by his folly in Iraq, to politicize the intelligence agencies to a degree heretofore unimaginable; indeed to go a long way to make them effectively a branch of his (ultra right) wing of the Republican party.  At the top we have a new "Intelligence Czar", John Negroponte, fresh from a lackluster stint as "Ambassador to" (that is, Satrap of) Iraq.

Bush had used 9-11 as an excuse to put an extreme Republican congressman, Porter Goss, in charge of the CIA, where he has dutifully weeded out agents who don't toe the administration's line; card-carrying Democrats and those who tried to tell it that Saddam Hussein had no 9-11 connection or credible WMD capability; that is the likes of Valerie Plame.  But Goss has quickly stubbed his toe and is now out, and it appears that one reason was his appointment of someone named "Kyle Foggo" as his "number 3" in that agency.  ("Dusty" Foggo! Gawd!)

And now it appears that this "Foggo" guy was a crony of Goss (and perhaps Negroponte) when he was (they were) in the CIA and also a part of the San Diego defense establishment's heavily Republican good ole' boys club, headed by Foggo's college roomie, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, the disgraced congressman who is now doing Big Time for corruption connected with S.D. defense contractor, Brent Wilkes, with whom Foggo has also done multimillion dollar deals (for bottled water for CIA agents in Iraq, would you believe?) and from whom he has also received copious favors, including apparently, the services of some very high-priced ladies.  And this is our "Christian conservative" government, remember!

And Bush plans to sort all of this out by appointing a general named Michael Hayden as the new CIA chief.  But not only did Hayden oversee a mega-trawl of nearly everyone's phoning habits which is at least highly-questionable, both on civil liberties and "intelligent Intelligence" grounds but he is also a loyalist crony of Donald Rumsfeld.  And it is Rumsfeld whom several retired generals blame for the Iraq fiasco and who ignored all Intelligence, which negatived the "9-11 connection/WMD" rationales for the Iraq invasion (etc.).

Meantime on a not unrelated front, Bush is proposing to deploy 10,000 National Guard troops to stem the tide of "illegal immigrants."  (That's mostly Mexicans coming into territory which was stolen from Mexico!)  Perhaps he can enlist the new version of the Ku Klux Klan, the (so-called) "Minutemen" too!

But there is hope! Westwood Assemblyman Paul Koretz, who is already our hero because of his Death Penalty Moratorium bill, has discovered a novel way to push for Bush's impeachment.  Apparently an obscure rule requires Congress to consider it, if it is proposed by a state's legislature.  And Bush and most top figures in his administration (e.g. Cheney, Rumsfeld and Condoleezza Rice) are all war criminals because of the Iraq invasion, so there is no better reason for impeachment and imprisonment of all of them.  So support Paul Koretz' impeachment bill please!

[Also the lies and other crimes of the supposed, "Christian", Bush prepare the way for acceptance of those of "The Da Vinci Code".  But this is not "just entertainment", it is BLASPHEMY!  So all people of good will should boycott this film and listen instead to the many excellent programs, which are exposing its lies.]
