'Burning Down The House' In Hollywoodland

BEVERLY HILLS—This week in Hollywoodland, news of Doris Day’s musical comeback continued to thrill fans, and she’s gaining a new generation that knew very little about the acting and singing legend. Also, Brad Pitt’s Malibu beach house is for sale, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are expecting another baby, Ms. Carol Channing is very much alive, and “True Blood” fans can expect the epic battle between Antonia Gavilan de Logrono and the vampires to become a bit more dangerous, and for the showdown in two more weeks, expect the Bon Temps body count to skyrocket!
Eric (Skarsgård) Sookie (Paquin) and Bill (Moyer) Face Antonia Together
“True Blood’s” Sunday night episode is titled, “Burning Down The House.” Last week, viewers saw Antonia imprison her coven of witches and followers, who refused to go to Shreveport and battle the vampires. Taking a nitwit named Roy was all Antonia needed, because she quickly put Bill’s three sheriffs under her spell and sent them off to murder the king’s bodyguards and then sent Eric, who is also under a spell by Antonia, to attack the king on stage during a “tolerance” political rally. Sookie screamed “run” just in time for Bill and Nan to realize that the vampires under the witch’s spell are determined this week to kill their own king.
Tommy took a beating on his brother’s behalf, Alcide was unaware of his fiancée Debbie’s rage toward Sookie, who was almost captured by Antonia. Sam and Luna took their relationship to the next level, while trying to forget Marcus’s threat to destroy their relationship.
Tomorrow night, as all hell breaks loose in Shreveport, Sookie summons her most potent powers yet to save Bill from the carnage and furious attack he becomes the object of. However, in the process of saving Bill and finding new fairy powers, Sookie manages to break a witch’s spell, and it leads Marnie/Antonia to re-evaluate her mission. But don’t count Antonia out yet, she’s far from finished in her plan to make all vampires meet the true death!
Jason will urge Jessica to glamour him for Hoyt’s sake, but their lust for each other becomes overpowering for the two. In a desperate attempt to save his cousin, Terry (Todd Lowe) drags Andy to “Fort Bellefleur” for an intervention, but it doesn’t go as planned. Alcide, who is very moral and sick of drama, begins to reconsider his allegiances after Marcus’s fight with Tommy leaves him wanting more out of life, and Tommy goes back to an unwelcome homecoming with Sam.
Jesus, accompanied by Sookie, Lafayette and Jason, tries to breach the Moon Goddess Emporium’s defenses to liberate Tara and Holly. This will be an awakening of sorts for Jason, and he proves he has the stuff of a real hero. However, before the group is able to secure everyone, a furious Bill leads a brigade of vampires committed to blowing the place to kingdom come. However, Antonia is far from done.
Jason (Ryan Kwanten) Rises As A Hero On Sunday Night
Over the next couple weeks, Antonia manages to stay one step ahead of the vampires, who are crafty. Jessica, Eric, Pam and Bill will fight to end the war and defeat the 400-year-old spirit of the witch, but will they be able to? By the season finale in two more weeks, two major past characters return. One will be beloved and it will lead to a highly emotional storyline for next season, and the other is hated, and the reveal will be nothing short of terrifying for all the citizens of Bon Temps and viewers who love their favorite characters.
“Burning Down the House” is written by Nancy Oliver and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter. Don’t miss it on HBO at 9 p.m. on Sunday night! Here are three previews of the exciting episode (“Burning Down the House”).
If you are on the market for a beautiful Malibu oceanfront beach cottage, Hollywood icon Brad Pitt is selling his mansion for only $14 million. Must be a sign of the bad economy, as that same abode would have gone for two times the asking amount 10 years ago.
If you thought Doris Day was living quietly on her Carmel mountainside estate with her menagerie of dogs, you’d be correct. However, she’s also set to drop a new album, something she has not done in four decades, and the once most beloved woman in Hollywood and around the world is enjoying incredible pre-sales. She’s at the top of the charts on Amazon.com and iTunes. Doris’s and my mutual friend Paul E. Brogan, the author of “Was That a Name I Dropped,” tells Canyon News, “I wanted to let you know that the new issue (September, 2011) of Classic Images magazine (a film periodical that has been around for about 35 years) is going to have as one of their cover stories, a story I wrote about Doris (Day) entitled, ‘The Lady Behind the Freckles.’ It is supposed to hit select newsstands as well as Barnes and Noble bookstores and Book Soup [West Hollywood], sometime next week.” Please be sure to pick it up, and expect a review of Doris’s new album by Brogan in Canyon News next week.
Congratulations to Ben Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner, who are expecting their third child. The couple has two daughters, so here’s hoping for a boy for one of Hollywood’s most beloved A-list couples. And since we are on the topic of Hollywood legends, my dear friend Ms. Carol Channing is not dead. Despite the announcement on a blog on the Internet on Wednesday evening, I can report that Ms. Channing is not only alive, but be sure to read Canyon News all week, because I have a great story coming out that proves that not only is she very much alive, but extremely busy as well. It’s very sad when bloggers report and spread rumors about stars’ deaths when it’s not true. It only takes a telephone call to a friend or their publicist to find out the truth.

Ms. Channing, Hollywood insider and author B. Harlan Boll and I were discussing it on Thursday, and Harlan reminded us about the time Dolores Hope was reported dead by TMZ, because someone saw her going into the hospital three days before her 100th birthday, only for him to spend the next few days dispelling the rumor. Well, he and I may take it seriously, but Ms. Channing told me, “Stop worrying Tommy. You get used to lies being printed about you after a while. My goodness, if you just sneeze after 90, they are ready to print your obit.”
Have a great weekend, see you next week! XOXO
