HOLLYWOOD—This week’s gold standard came from a week of confrontations and sacrifices. There are few television confrontations as volatile as the ones that occur on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful.” And this week Brooke Logan, who is played by beautiful Katherine Kelly Lang found out that her beloved Ridge slept with his ex wife Taylor and that her mother-in-law was also plotting this reunion. But it was absolutely priceless to hear Brooke Logan say, “How dare you, you slept with my husband.” Brooke Logan has taken every woman’s husband on “B&B” at some time or another. And the audacity of Brooke doesn’t fall short when you realize she has been married to every male member of her husband’s family, with the exception of his son Thomas. Lets get this figured out. Brooke’s been married to Ridge’s brothers Nick and Thorne and even his father Eric. But the tears streaming down Katherine’s face made the viewers forget for thirty minutes when Brooke told Taylor that she was the one who manipulated the situation and seduced her husband Ridge.

Katherine Kelly Lang has the innate ability to play Brooke with such genuine emotion. You could feel Brooke’s heartbreak when she surmised on Tuesday’s episode that her marriage may be over because of Ridge’s indiscretion with Taylor. Katherine Kelly Lang manages to play the heroine better than most actresses on television today. She makes her character, Brooke a very sympathetic figure when Brooke has in the past been a woman who was narcissistic and self absorbed. Having broken the hearts of many other wives, Brooke is now the wronged party and that’s a major shift in the storyline. Brooke has been the perennial other woman for over two decades but now with heartbreak and shame, she may lose her husband to another woman. This was a twist Bradley Bell was able to do in an amazing fashion. His writing keeps viewers of this hit show on the edge of our seats.
With Bradley Bell in the driver’s seat and Katherine Kelly Lang making Brooke the victim instead of a cold-hearted man eater, Lang will continue to win over her fans and continue to make Brooke a fan favorite. Ms. Lang was unforgettable this week. Fans were glued to their chairs waiting for the scenes Susan Flannery as Stephanie would have with her nemesis and daughter-in-law Brooke, when the two faced off. That’s coming. But Ridge and Brooke have a love affair for the ages. We know that Brooke and Ridge are never really over. Bradley Bell knows how to reinvent his characters and make them more exciting than before. We look forward to this triangle between Brooke, Ridge and Taylor to explode again. Katherine Kelly Lang is definitely prepared as an actress for this to occur. But having to put a period at the end of the week, Kelly Lang’s performance as the resolute Brooke who would make the ultimate sacrifice, was heart wrenching and poignant. Lang is a breath of fresh air in smoggy L.A.
This week on “The Young and the Restless” Sharon broke not only her ex’s heart, but her own. Sharon could not live with the idea of telling Nick the truth, that he’s the father of her baby girl. With Nick’s daughter by Phyllis in a coma. Sharon felt that Nick needed to be with his current wife and forget about her and their previous marriage. Sharon made the decision on her own. Nick wants to be with his ex not his current wife. Sharon however can’t get over losing their daughter Cassie and knowing the pain that she felt when Nick shut down and didn’t share in their loss.
Sharon Case must be drained after such heavy emotional scenes. She’s been making Sharon Collins Newman Abbott an unstable fixture in Genoa City for years. Case who is nothing like the character she plays has the ability to pull emotions out of herself whenever her alter ego needs to pour out her heart and soul. The character needed to show that she loves her ex husband Nick more than herself. When Joshua Morrow and Sharon Case were in the chapel and Sharon lied to Nick that the baby was not his, Case played it as unemotional as possible giving the impression that the two were finished and that he, Nick needed to go back to his wife and stand by her right now while their daughter is in a coma.
Case however seemed as if she was in total command of her emotions while the character Sharon was falling apart. Joshua Morrow played it very understated which gave Sharon Case the ability to showcase her emotions, while he did the manly thing and remained stoic. I don’t know if this is supposed to play this way or not, but it sure did work. Sharon Case handles her storyline shifts like with ease. But fans are devastated by the lie Sharon now tells Nick about their child. But they remain solidly behind Sharon Case the performer who makes the character Sharon one of the most beloved heroines in daytime television history.
Lastly, this week Ashley Jones, who shined as Bridget Marone, was basking in the glow of being on her honeymoon in sunny Hawaii wishing that her mother-in-law and his much younger fiancé Owen were two thousands miles away. You guessed it. Bridget and Nick were not alone in the Hawaiian islands. Unbeknownst to Nick’s mom, she and Owen arrived at the secret location her son was honeymooning with his new wife.
Bridget’s shock when she found out that Owen and Jackie were there was priceless. Ashley Jones is one of the best actresses today. She is impressing fans and critics not only on “B&B” but also on HBO’s hit vampire series “True Blood.” But Jones is wonderful when her character is keeping secrets from those she loves. When she and Owen, played by the talented and handsome Brandon Beemer, made an agreement to not only keep their significant other in the dark about the foursome being on the Island, fans knew that Bridget was about to be betrayed. Owen used this opportunity to not only make it known by week’s end that he and Jackie were also vacationing on the island, but he took the opportunity to expose some shocking news to Jackie’s son Nick as well. Bridget’s shock and feelings of betrayal were evident on Jones’s face when she realized Owen had no intentions of keeping his current living arrangements unknown to her husband and his enemy Nick. By week's end, Jackie and Owen were man and wife.

Look for Ashley Jones to continue to amaze us with her talent and beauty for months to come. Bridget’s previous marriage to Nick gave Jones Emmy worthy scenes and storyline. It’s only a matter of time before this diva shapes public opinion to make fans empathize with Bridget’s plight again.
This week three women shined bright on television. Owen’s betrayal of Bridget, by making it known to Nick on his honeymoon that Owen and Jackie are more solid than ever before, was entertaining and fun to watch, Sharon Case’s role as Sharon Abbott has taken a decisive turn for the best for viewers and Katherine Kelly Lang reined supreme another week in daytime television.
