On the Industry

Hello, Richard!
Posted by Tommy Garrett on Feb 10, 2008 - 1:38:40 PM

NEW YORK CITY - Richard Skipper is a man of passion, dignity, class and oh, such talent!  The thespian has become one of the biggest acts on the stage in New York City and is keeping Miss Carol Channing alive and well.   Carol often is asked, "Are you doing stage work in New York anymore? I hear that you are there a lot."  Carol's response, "Yes, I never looked better, do come to see me when you are in New York."  Carol has become a fan of Richard Skipper's. He's the bawdy, bigger than life, but brilliant performer who is doing Carol all over the place.

He's not an impersonator. He has too much talent to go on stage and to copy Miss Channing. He becomes her.  From the way Miss Channing talks, to how she moves and even puts her hand under the chin of the person she's being photographed with.   Richard is just divine as - Channing.  "I have a lot of respect for her, I remember growing up in South Carolina as a child, I could impersonate any voice or anyone.  I kept my classmates in stitches and the teachers as well.   When I had the opportunity to become Miss Channing, I was scared to death.  But then after meeting her, after having her see my performance, she became my biggest fan."

Fans he has a plenty! From New York critics to the famous Cindy Adams.   Skipper performed at Cindy's recent birthday and she has become a big fan of his as well.   Sold out almost every performance, Skipper can be seen and heard currently at the Wings Theater Company.
